Drum & Bass (DnB) emerged from the UK rave and jungle scenes in the early 1990s. It's defined by high tempos, chopped breakbeats, and serious sub-bass.
Sub-genres span liquid (smooth, melodic), neurofunk (dark, technical), jump-up (punchy, fun), and minimal/deep (atmospheric). All share the same rhythmic backbone.
