What is Dubstep?
Half-time, bass-led, sub-heavy.
Dubstep started in early-2000s South London, growing out of UK garage and 2-step. The genre took the half-time feel and turned the bass into the lead instrument — wobbly, growling, talking.
Today's dubstep splits into deep/classic (atmospheric, sub-led, like Mala or Burial) and modern/Riddim/Brostep (heavy, aggressive, designed for big drops).
