What is EQ?

EQ stands for Equalisation. It's the tool that lets you turn parts of a sound up or down based on their pitch — bass, mids, or treble.

• Every sound is a mix of low, mid and high frequencies. EQ lets you reshape that mix.
• It's used on almost every track in a mix — vocals, drums, bass, synths.
• Boost = make a frequency louder. Cut = make it quieter. Both are valid moves.
• Use it to remove muddy lows, harsh mids, or to brighten a dull sound.
