What is Mono?
Mono means one single audio channel — the same signal on left and right. Most phone speakers, club systems and bluetooth speakers play in mono.
- Stereo splits the signal across two channels for width.
- Mono collapses both channels back into one. If anything was out of phase, it cancels.
- Most DAWs have a mono button on the master — flip it and listen.
- If a part disappears or sounds weak in mono, it's not mono-compatible.
- Toggle the demo to hear a stereo mix collapse to mono.
