What is Reverb?
Reverb is the sound of a space — the way a room, hall, or cathedral colours a sound after the source stops.
- When you sing in a tiled bathroom, every word echoes — that's reverb in real life.
- Reverb adds depth, distance and a sense of place to a dry recording.
- Short reverbs (<0.5s) keep things tight and intimate. Long reverbs (>2s) feel huge and dreamy.
- Common types: room, plate, hall, spring — each has its own colour.
- Try the dry / reverb toggle to hear the same hit with and without space around it.
Reverb is glue. A tiny bit on every element can make a flat mix feel like a real performance.
