Waveforms: Sine, Square, Saw
Every sound in a synth starts with a basic shape — a waveform. The shape decides the tone before any filter or effect is applied.
- Sine — pure, smooth, no harmonics. Sub bass and soft pads love this shape.
- Square — hollow, woody, classic 8-bit/lead sound. Lots of odd harmonics.
- Saw — bright, rich, all harmonics present. The default for lead synths and supersaws.
- Triangle — between sine and square. Slightly more colour than a sine, but still mellow.
- Toggle the oscilloscope below to see and hear each shape.
